IMHO the central question is, if these should be "contextualized" boosts or just posts on their own, linking/embedding another post like we have it on #friendica.
On #birdsite quoted reposts keep a link to the original post for metrics so it became a special kind of reply. If it is just a quote, perhaps the quotee should get some notification (by mentioning) and the link is put below the comment. But those are just my two cents.
I don't feel as strongly about quote posts as I did in 2018. Personally, I am not a fan, but there is clearly a lot of demand for it. We're considering it.

Ich glaube, vielen von der #birdsite kommenden geht es hier auch wie mir auf dem algorithmischen Twitter. Dieser Kontrollverlust hat mich oft verunsichert.
Wenn ich mir die Kommentare auf der #birdsite zu #Mastodon und #fediverse so anschaue, sehe ich das Ergebnis der jahrelangen Fokussierung des Web auf eine handvoll globale Unternehmen. Die Idee und Erkenntnis, dass das Web Distributed by Nature ist, verwirrt, verstört, verängstigt. Das Fehlen von Führung lässt sie erstmalig allein zurück. Eigentlich träumen sie alle von linearem Fernsehen, aber in Hip 🤔
Ich war zuletzt vermehrt auf der #birdsite unterwegs, weil ich mich zu #ukraine und #iran informiert habe. Die großen Accounts scheinen momentan noch vor allem nur dort zu sein. Habt ihr #Folgeempfehlungen im #fediverse zu den Themen #ukraine und #iran?
